BUILD The Rail Park!

Excitement is building for Phase I of The Rail Park – and we need your support!

With over $9.6 million in hand or pledged, we are well within reach of our $10.3 million goal. You can make a difference by making a gift today!

The Center City District Foundation (CCDF) is raising funds to build Phase I of The Rail Park. Thanks to our many generous donors, we are within reach of our goal - and you can help us cross the finish line and start construction this fall. Your gift today can help transform the first portion of the abandoned elevated Reading Railroad structure into a signature new public green space in an area of Center City that is attracting new residents and businesses but lacks public parks or community gathering spaces.

Inspired by the success of the High Line in New York City, Phase I of The Rail Park will provide much needed green recreation space for visitors and residents of Callowhill, Poplar, and Chinatown North neighborhoods and a new destination for visitor to our city.

Phase I, approximately 1/4-mile, is leased to the Center City District (CCD) by SEPTA for the purpose of constructing the park, which will take approximately 15 months and include remediation of soil, removal of lead paint, repairs and renovation to all bridge structures, new landscaping, lighting and public amenities. Once finished, the Philadelphia Dept of Parks & Recreation will work with the Center City District and the Friends of the Rail Park to manage and activate the park.
